I was sitting in my rowboat on Cedar Lake in west Minneapolis this morning when a loon surfaced a few feet from the boat. It called a few times, then dove. Later, it joined another loon. We've seen loons on Minnetonka in the summer but this is the first we've seen in July on one of the city lakes. Don Beimborn
