Forgot to post yesterday that I had seen a Summer Tanager at Lebanon Hills
Regional Park, Holland Lake access in Eagan. Surprising was that this was NOT
the returning adult male seen there the last few successive years. This was
apparently a first year male, and seemed to be overall an olive orange color,
suggestive of a female. I didn't see any red blotches on the plumage, but my
look at the entire bird was very brief, and nearly directly over head. It was
singing loudly. The bill was fleshy colored, fairly thick and longer than a
Scarlet. I did check to see if there was any darker color in the wings or
tail, realizing there may be hybrid Summer X Scarlet young returning to this
area. The overall coloring of the bird seemed consistant. (No one knows what
offspring of this pairing will look like, but I'm guessing there would be
something odd about those areas.)

Other interesting birds (to me) were those typically found in the park:
Blue-winged Warbler, Mourning Warbler, Scarlet Tanager, Eastern Wood-Pewee, a
calling Barred Owl, etc.
