The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday, April 17th 2008.

A possible MEW GULL was reported on the 13th at the north end of Eagle
Lake in Blue Earth County, though the observer was uncertain of the
identification. And despite many searches over the next two days, I am
unaware of anyone with a subsequent confirmed sighting.

On the 14th, a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was at the Leroy sewage ponds in
Mower County.

A PACIFIC LOON was at the reservoir east of the county landfill and just
west of Rochester, Olmsted County, on the 11th.

On the 12th, a MARBLED GODWIT was seen at the 180th street marsh in
Dakota County.

A singing CAROLINA WREN was found on the 12th at the corner of 75th and
Dupont Streets in Richfield, Hennepin County.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was in the northwestern corner of Chester Woods
Park in Rochester, Olmsted County on the 15th. Another was in
Chanhassen, Carver County on the 11th and 12th. It was seen at the
intersection of Ridge Road and Pleasantview Road.

An extraordinarly early NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW was reported on
April 16th from the southeast side of the Purgatory Creek wetlands in
Eden Prairie, Hennepin County. The typical arrival date for this species
is May 13th.

Recent spring arrivals now include BROAD-WINGED HAWK, SWAINSON'S HAWK,
SORA, DUNLIN, FORSTER'S TERN, CHIMNEY SWIFT, HOUSE WREN, BLUE-GRAY
GNATCATCHER, CHIPPING SPARROW, FIELD SPARROW, SAVANNAH SPARROW, VESPER
SPARROW, LINCOLN'S SPARROW, and YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD.
