With our delayed spring and late ice out on the small local lakes, birds are rafting up in silver lake in virginia (st louis co) MN 

Karen Sussman and I just counted no fewer than 63 loons, as well as dozens of scaup, bufflehead,  and red-necked grebes, and numerous horned and pied billed grebes as well as goldeneye, ring necked ducks, and several osprey.
