Here is the latest info on MOU Field Trips for the fall of 2008:

October 3rd-5th and October 10th-12th, Sparrow Workshops with Doug Buri
and Bob Janssen
These workshops feature 3 days of intense field studies and classroom
instruction focused on resident and migrant sparrows. There is the
potential for 16 species of sparrows including LeConte's Sparrow and
Smith's Longspur as well as good chances for migrant raptors and late
migrant shorebirds. The workshops will be based in Milbank, SD but will
explore the prairies of both Eastern SD and Western MN. For more
information see the website at www.itctel.com/buri/SPARROW or contact
Doug Buri at dougburi at tnics.com. At this time the workshop on October
3rd-5th is full, but there is space available for the workshop on
October 10th-12th. The cost is $125.

October 25th, 7:30am to 12:00noon, Mille Lacs County with Al Schimacher
Birding will be primarily along the shore of Lake Mille Lacs looking for
loons, grebes and early winter migrants. Last year two Boreal
Chickadees were sighted by our youngest participant and shared by all.
If time permits birders may visit Mille Lacs-Kathio and/or Father
Hennepin State Park(annual pass or daily sticker will be required for
the state parks). This trip is currently full, but you can be put on
the waiting list in case of cancellations. Contact Al at
pastoral at princetonfreechurch.net to register or get more info.

November 8th, 9:00am to afternoon, Houston County with Fred Lesher
Birding will be along the Mississippi River from LaCrescent south to
Lansing, Iowa, across the river to Wisconsin and back up the river to
LaCrosse and west to LaCrescent. Birders should see 100,000's of
waterfowl and many raptors. This trip is free and open to the public.
Contact Fred at corax6330 at yahoo.com to register or get more info.
