This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, June 12th 2008.

Interesting was the June 11th report of an adult LAUGHING GULL in
eastern Wabasha County at the boat ramp at Goose Lake, about five miles
southeast of Kellogg. This would be the state's third June record and
the first for Wabasha County.

Nine RED-THROATED LOONS were in Duluth on the 8th, along Park Point
between Lafayette Square and the Sky Harbor Airport.

A SNOWY EGRET was in Douglas County on the 8th, just north of Olson's
Bay Road on the east side of the Grant/Douglas County line.

Several YELLOW RAILS were heard calling on the 9th at the McGregor Marsh
in Aitkin County. The birds were on the east side of state highway 65,
one mile south of state highway 210. A few NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED
SPARROWS were also heard in the same area.

A GREAT GRAY OWL was along McDavitt Road in the Sax-Zim Bog area of St.
Louis County on the 10th, about 2.5 miles north of Sax Road.

On June 8th, a BELL'S VIREO was reported from Lake Nokomis in
Minneapolis. The bird was singing from the larger trees at the southwest
side of the Lake Nokomis lagoon west of the Cedar Avenue bridge.

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was near the airport in Bloomington, Hennepin
County on the 5th. It was at the junction of Airport Lane and 77th
Street in front of the Metro Transit building.

And as of June 10th, a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was still being seen at
Baker Park Reserve, western Hennepin County. It was across the road that
runs to the Near Wilderness Settlement on the south side of County Road
24 and directly across the Park District's Marshview Group Camp.

The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday, June 19th 2008.
