This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, March 27th, 2008
sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Two GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULLS, a first-cycle and a second-cycle bird,
were found by Peder Svingen on 21st and 24th at the Superior landfill.
Peder also saw several GLAUCOUS GULLS, but has not seen the Slaty-backed
or Iceland Gulls for a couple of weeks. Cindy Krienke found 20
LONG-TAILED DUCKS on the 22nd at Agate Bay in Two Harbors.

Nancy Jackson saw a TURKEY VULTURE on the 26th along US Highway 2,
northwest of Floodwood. Kim Eckert saw HOODED MERGANSERS near Canal Park
in Duluth on the 27th and Sparky Stensaas saw some the same day on the
St. Louis River at Fond du Lac. Sparky also found four TRUMPETER SWANS
on the 25th at Fond du Lac. Increasing numbers of COMMON MERGANSERS,
COMMON GOLDENEYES, MERLINS, and MOURNING DOVES have been noted by
several observers recently.
