[mou] Birdie excitement in Maple Grove

Had a thrill today as 6 crows were mobbing something as I walked in
the woods south of the boat dock at the end of Zachary Lane at the NE
corner of Eagle Lake just now. I pursued the mob and saw a Cooper's
Hawk fly off and begin to cry. But the mobbing was not being directed
at the hawk. The crows had cornered a Great Horned Owl and were
taking swipes at it. The hawk was circling the area crying out
threateningly and the owl just stayed put. This went on for at least
20 minutes of loud raucous crows, piercing threats from the hawk and
complete head rotations and huge eyes of the owl checking out the
crows. Had to the get the 15 year old daughter to guitar lessons and
had to leave but a thrilling day for me and my wife who had never seen
such a thing before.

Heaven... I'm in heaven,
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak.
And I seem to find the happiness I seek,
When we're out together birding cheek to cheek.
