Got some very good looks at a male prothonotary warbler at Fort Snelling State Park this morning. What a beautiful bird.
It was in the same area where it was sighted last year - follow the signs into the park to the gift shop (in the visitor center).
Take the path from the far end of the parking lot across from the visitor center, at the T take a right and go under the bridge. The warbler was in the trees above the deadfall area on the right near the path.
also heard and seen in that general area - a very noisy morning -
warbling vireo
great crested flycatcher
baltimore orioles
redstarts
house wrens
belted kingfisher
ovenbird
