[mou] About trhe bird on the 42 cent stamp

GREETINS:
 
I had several answers or inquiries about the 42 cent stamp.  Bob Parsons was the first to suggest what it might be.  Don Beimborn was the other birder - a personal friend.  Both suggested a PIPING PLOVER.  Don also shared that it is on the Great Lakes Dune sheet of stamps.  I had to look at Sibley's book to find a picture of the bird with wings spread.
