John and Chris Hockema and I found at least 26 White-winged Crossbills at Hok-Si-La park today which is just north of Lake City along Hwy 61. The birds were working spruces just west of the large pine plantation which in turn are just west of the main parking area.

The Red-shouldered Hawk was cruising by on Lehrbach Rd., about .5 miles west of it's intersection with Flower Valley Road, which intersects Hwy 61 about 5 miles east of Red Wing.

Lake Pepin had a few Horned Grebes, Common Loons, and a fair number of divers (though numbers certainly haven't peaked yet). Only a handful of Herring Gulls were mixed in with the Ring-billeds, and there was a small flock of Bonaparte's on the WI side of the MS river just west of Reads Landing.
