Today on my day off, I visited Hawk Ridge from 11:00am through
mid-afternoon. We had some Rough-legged Hawks, Bald Eagles, and Northern
Goshawk moving through: ) Red-tailed Hawks came through today, as did
smaller numbers of Sharp-shinned Hawks. It sure was cool to feel and see the
concentrations of periodic north winds blowing rain and sleet up at the
ridge. These concentrations of winds came through like 'waves' in the sky.
Pretty darn cool.

While hanging out with friends tonight, they told me a dark morph
Rough-legged Hawk was banded and shown at the ridge (after I left) as well
as an adult Northern Goshawk. Talk about beautiful raptors to the max!!
Tomorrow could be an even better day based on the strong northwest winds!
I'll check out MN Point tomorrow before work, and see if this brief cold
front brings some fun stuff overnight...

However before Hawk Ridge, I birded Wisconsin Point from sunrise until
leaving for the ridge at 10:30. Highlights from Wisconsin Point this morning
include:

Red-throated Loon (1)
Black Scoter (1)
Bonaparte's Gulls (flock of 61 birds!!!)
SANDERLING
Greater Yellowlegs

Good birding,
