Common Yellowthroat in Dakota County

Common in Dakota County in the Summer season

A visit to the Rudy Kraemer Nature preserve in Burnsville allowed Linda and I to watch this Common Yellowthroat catch bugs for it's young. However, the thrill of the year was provided by two very young spotted fawns which came out of the swamp grass and cavorted around us on the path for a full 4 minutes. The opportunity to take over 50 pictures was thrilling. It was actually difficult with a 300mm lense and 1.4tc to get far enough away to get both fawns in the frame. Whenever I backed up a few steps they would come forward a few steps. Perhaps with the black camera up to my face it looked vaguely like mom's nose. Quite a day. If you're not out there, you can't see it!!
