Northern Shrike in Cook County

Common in Cook County in the Fall season

Yesterday I had a flock of seventeen Snow Buntings accept my presence as they were feeding on weeds and seeds ... and after photographing them for sometime, this Northern Shrike flew into the middle of the flock... what was unique, is that for a split second nothing happened, as if the buntings were not phased by the intruder... the flock suddenly whirred, the shrike flew into the brush and quickly disappeared... the Snow Buntings returned to the same spot a few minutes later.
