Ruby-throated Hummingbird in Cook County

Common in Cook County in the Fall season

This male Ruby-throated Hummingbird has been "guarding" our feeders since May... "bombing" all who dare to drink. On the 22nd I took his photo "warming up" for the long trip south. Every year it seems the males are the first to leave and this day ended his last guard detail. The females leave our ridge between September 13-15.
