Hoary Redpoll in Sax-Zim Bog. The best way to find Hoaries this winter has been to drive around the backroads looking for small flocks of redpolls feeding in alders. Often there is one or two in these small flocks. Not many at feeders this winter. This female was found feeding alone and was very tame. She dropped down to get a "drink" of snow. A very pale bird...possibly from the Greenland (Hornemann's) population. Beautiful bird!
