American Robin in Cook County

Uncommon in Cook County in the Winter season

This past week we have had an extraordinary number of American Robins, Bohemian and Cedar Waxwings, Pine Grosbeaks in Grand Marais and Cook Co. I photographed four tree tops in Grand Marais and counted 1,153 Bohemian Waxwings. This was only the "tip of the iceberg" as huge flocks circled the area and consumed every mountain ash berry in town. In past years I have seen and photographed larger flocks of Bohemian Waxwings, but never the amount of the aforementioned four species together, at the same time.
