Seasonal Reporter Suggestions

1. Enter all data from paper records and additional sources into the MOU database with the Seasonal Report tool.  (http://moumn.org  Seasonal Report)  In order to do this you can be logged in as an fide your_name.  This will help you determine early/late dates as well as first seasonal records and first county records.

2. Review the report with http://moumn.org
MOU Administration -> Seasonal Report for Loon
Set the season to the one you are reporting.  Here you have several tools.  If you click on "Summary Report of The Loon", you get a version of the report most like the one that you will probably publish in The Loon.  Review this report and determine which sightings you want to delete.  Instructions are at the top of the page.
Reject a sighting by clicking on the observer's TLN (three-letter-name). The sighting is removed immediatly and the TLN is crossed out. A sighting can be restored by clicking on Restore Rejected Records and then clicking on the rejected sighting. A refresh is needed to see the results of the rejected sightings. To find the name of the observer, hover the cursor over the TLN.
3. Review New Seasonal and County Records.
Click on "New Seasonal and County Records".  Look over the information and either accept the record as a new record, reject the record, or send email to the observer for more information.

4. Download report into word.  You can either download the summary report or the complete version into word.  You then edit this and delete all the extra wordage to get a smooth reading Seasonal Report.  An attempt has been made to include only the information that is of interest in the summary report.  If it is too brief, make some suggestions to David Cahlander <david@cahlander.com> to improve the  report.

Additional Notes

For the Summer season, "Nesting Maps" are generated.  These reflect the data in the MOU database.  As you add information from other sources or remove sightings in error, the maps change to reflect what is in the database.

The seasonal reporters decide if a sighting is a "new seasonal record" or a "new county record".  Be careful about which records you accept and which you reject.

Rejected records can be restored by clicking on "Restore Seasonal Report Records".
