What a cold week it has been! After a very pleasant Saturday last weekend, the rest of the week has been bitterly cold, and both birds and humans have reverted to survival mode. Feeders have been busy as might be expected.

In Warroad in Roseau County, Beth Siverhus reported BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS in town, and SNOW BUNTINGS and COMMON REDPOLLS along MN 11 this week. An AMERICAN ROBIN was seen in Warroad this week.

From Beltrami County, Dave Carman reported about 60 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS in the crabapple trees between 18th St and 21st St along Delton Avenue in northwest Bemidji this week. At his feeder he has a lone PINE SISKIN among the 25 COMMON REDPOLLS.

Bruce Flaig in Polk County reported four species of woodpeckers at the feeder on February 19- RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, DOWNY WOODPECKER, HAIRY WOODPECKER, and PILEATED WOODPECKER. On February 18, John Loegering reported a HARRIS'S SPARROW hanging out with the BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES in the nature nook near Owen Hall at UMC in Crookston.

Brad Ehlers mentioned that the area behind the senior high-rise apartments on the east end of Fergus Falls is a good place to watch up to 150 TRUMPETER SWANS at this time.

Thanks to Beth Siverhus, Brad Ehlers, Bruce Flaig, Dave Carman, and John Loegering for their reports.
