This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, August 8 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Jan Green saw an immature BONAPARTE'S GULL at Knife River on the 4th. She also reported HORNED GREBE and RED-NECKED GREBE seen in late July.

Steve Foss found BOREAL CHICKADEES, WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, and several other species along the abandoned railroad grade west of Murphy City off Highway 1. WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS seem to be particularly active lately, with reports from the Gunflint Trail, Lake County and central St. Louis County.

Mike Hendrickson reported two migrants from Park Point today, a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO and an immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK.
