This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, August 15, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

The fall migration will soon be in full swing. Migrants reported this week in Duluth include the GREAT EGRET at Gooseberry Falls State Park and several species of shorebirds, including LEAST SANDPIPER, SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, PECTORAL SANDPIPER, and LESSER YELLOWLEGS.

An albino RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD was reported from the Midway Township area.

It is now less than a month until Hawk Weekend, which will take place this year on September 13-15. Featured speakers this year include Dr. David Bird, and Minnesota's own Steve Wilson.
