This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, June 12, 2003, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Last evening I learned that Steve Geerts found a ROCK WREN at his home in Fredenburg Township on Sunday, June 8. The bird has not been seen since.

A WILLET, 7 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, and an AMERICAN WIGEON were at 40th Ave West on the 8th. At least 3 GREATER SCAUP are still at Hearding Island.

Conny Brunell reported YELLOW RAILS at McGregor Marsh in Aitkin County, 0.2 and 0.3 miles south of Mile Marker 161 on Hwy 65 and behind the Fireside Restaurant on Hwy 65 where it heads north from 210, northwest of the town of McGregor. She also reported LE CONTE'S SPARROWS and SHARP-TAILED GROUSE in the fields just south of the town of Tamarack on Cty Rd 16.

The next scheduled update of this report will be on Thursday, June 19, however, if there aren't sightings to report, it may not be updated until the 26th.
