This is the Duluth Birding Report for Tuesday, November 23, 2004, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

The selasphorus sp. hummingbird (RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD or ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRD) continues to come to Laura Erickson's feeders in the lakeside neighborhood of Duluth. The bird was seen again yesterday.

A PACIFIC LOON was seen on the 19th and 20th at Agate Bay in Two Harbors.

Janet Blixt had two NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS in her yard in the central hillside area of Duluth on the 21st.

GREAT GRAY OWLS and NORTHERN HAWK OWLS continue to be seen frequently across Northeastern Minnesota. They were again reported this week at too many locations to mention here, but many birders had success in the

Sax-Zim area along Cty Rd 7 between 52 and 319, along Hwy 133 between Hwy 53 and Meadowlands, and along other roads in the area, including McDavitt Rd and Admiral Rd. Between and to the north of Two Harbors and

Duluth, Jim Lind found a number of Great Grays along Forest Hwy 11. Closer to Duluth, Great Grays were seen this week in the pine plantation at Hawk Ridge and at the intersection of Maxwell and Oak Street. Please continue to report the time and location of your sightings.

Ann russ found an AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN in the harbor at Taconite Harbor on the 21st, and Uwe Kausch saw another along Lake Cty Rd 2, a mile north of Two Harbors on the 22nd.

The Duluth Christmas Bird Count will be held on Saturday, December 18,
