This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Four BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were found on the 2nd by Conny Brunell and Susan Schumacher on the lake side of Park Point at the Sky Harbor Airport. Two PARASITIC JAEGERS were relocated by Karl Bardon and others on the 28th at the 12th Street access on Park Point. They were subsequently seen at the Recreation Area.

Two LONG-BILLED DOWICHERS and five other shorebird species were found by Kim Eckert on the 30th at the 40th Avenue West Erie Pier area. Kim counted 500 COMMON NIGHTHAWKS on the evening of 1st at the Lakewalk near Fitger's. An extremely early ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK has seen by Karl Bardon and others at Hawk Ridge on the 30th. Ten SANDHILL CRANES were also seen on the 30th.
