This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A third-cycle SLATY-BACKED GULL was relocated on the 30th by Karl Bardon at Canal Park in Duluth. Jan Green saw an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL and a first-cycle ICELAND GULL at Canal Park on the 2nd.

A GREAT GRAY OWL was seen on the 2nd along the Stony River Forest Road, about 3 miles north of Forest Highway 11 (CR 15). A RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER has been seen frequently on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue in downtown Two Harbors. Flocks of BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS have been reported in downtown Two Harbors, Bovey, Coleraine, and in Ely.
