This is the Duluth Birding Report for June 2nd, 2016 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A LAUGHING GULL in non-breeding plumage, an immature PACIFIC LOON, and 19 RED-THROATED LOONS were found on the 2nd by Mike Hendrickson at 43rd Street on Park Point. Mike also found an ARCTIC TERN and 14 RED-THROATED LOONS on the 2nd at the dune bridge near the Sky Harbor on Park Point.

Peder Svingen saw a PACIFIC LOON on the 30th at the dune bridge, and Jan and Larry Kraemer saw a FRANKLIN'S GULL there on the 30th. Jan and Larry saw a BLACK TERN at the dune bridge on the 2nd, and Jim Lind and Dave Grosshuesch saw a PARASITIC JAEGER there on the 28th. Scott Loss saw two RUDDY DUCKS on the 27th at the Park Point Recreation Area and Robbeye Johnson saw one at the Superior Entry on the 2nd.

Sparky Stensaas saw a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD on the 2nd at Wisconsin Point between lots 3 and 5. Another NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen on the 2nd at Lighthouse Point in Two Harbors. Earl Orf saw a WHIMBREL on the 27th at Agate Bay in Two Harbors. A YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD and WILSON'S PHALAROPE were seen on the 29th at the Castle Danger Wastewater Treatment Plant.
