This is the Duluth Birding Report for December 8th, 2016 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

The EURASIAN TREE SPARROW in downtown Two Harbors was seen as recently as the 4th and is probably still present. It moves around throughout the day with a flock of House Sparrows, and is seen mainly along Waterfront Drive especially in the alley behind the library at 4th Avenue, at the post office at 1st Avenue, and at the ground feeder at South Avenue between the Do North pizzeria and the black historic locomotive.

The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at 44th Avenue East and Regent Street in east Duluth was reported as recently as the 3rd and is also most likely still present. Birders are welcome to look for the bird but he asks observers to stay on the sidewalk and not venture into his yard. The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD on Park Point was relocated as recently as the 2nd at 40th Street between the rowing club and Southworth Marsh.

The female HARLEQUIN DUCK at the McQuade Road public access northeast of Duluth was last reported on the 2nd. Six LONG-TAILED DUCKS were seen as recently as the 6th at Burlington Bay in Two Harbors.

John Richardson saw a possible VARIED THRUSH on the 6th along Everett Street in Duluth, but it has not been relocated. Bob Myers saw a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE on the 8th in the town of Silver Bay.

THAYER'S GULLS, ICELAND GULL, BLACK-BACKED GULL and GLAUCOUS GULL continue to be reported from Canal Park in Duluth.
