This is the Minnesota birding report for Thursday April 12th, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Oscar Johnson found a CLARK'S GREBE at the Coon Rapids Dam on the Hennepin County - Anoka County line on April 10th. The bird was still present on the morning of the 11th but I have no more recent information. This is the first record for both counties.

On the 12th, Drew Smith reported a CATTLE EGRET along 140th St. just east of U.S. highway 52 and north of the town of Coates in Dakota County. It was in the company of five GREAT EGRETS.

On the 10th Jim Mattsson found an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL at the baseball fields one block north of Fort Snelling in Hennepin County. A FRANKLIN'S GULL was seen at this location on April 6th.

A GLAUCOUS GULL was seen on the 8th at Wells Lake in Rice County with a large flock of RING-BILLED GULLS. The bird was seen from the boat launch at Velzke Park, which is along Rice County Road 38 on the north side of Wells Lake.

Karol Gresser found the first FORSTER'S TERN of the year. On April 11th a single bird was found at Scharr's Bluff near Hastings in Dakota County.

Pam Blixt reported many YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS on the 7th at Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis.

Jon Peterson reported that GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES have once again returned to the Grover's Lake area of southern Jackson County. He found them there on April 8th.

Additional migrants reported from several localities around the state include AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN, DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, TUNDRA SWAN including several thousand in southern Dodge County, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, EASTERN PHOEBE, BARN SWALLOW, GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, EASTERN TOWHEE, AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, SWAMP SPARROW, and VESPER SPARROW.

And several SNOW BUNTINGS were lingering in Renville County on the 12th.
