This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Tuesday August 12th.

Karl Bardon found a pair of NEOTROPIC CORMORANTS in Big Stone County today. Take U.S. Highway 75 south out of Ortonville. In about six miles, the road, which had been going east, will bend to the southeast. Take Big Stone County Road 21 to the west. After a short distance take the first left and park at the end of the road. The cormorants spend their time on the peninsula with about one hundred Double-crested Cormorants.

Also, on August 8th there was a report of a female RUFF, seen by Randy Frederickson in southeastern Kandiyohi County. This bird was with about 25 other shorebirds. From the town of Lake Lillian go north then northwest on County Road 8. Turn west on 165th Avenue and go about three miles and look for a wetland on the south side of the road.
