This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, November 13th 2008.

The male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE is still being seen in the Duluth harbor at the western edge of the Park Point Recreation Area. Also in the area are a few WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, SURF SCOTER, and BLACK SCOTER. A LONG-TAILED DUCK was near the Sky Harbor Airport, and three RED-THROATED LOONS were reported on the 7th at the Lafayette Square 31st Street access. A PACIFIC LOON was at Burlington Bay in Two Harbors, Lake County, on the 7th.

A NORTHERN HAWK OWL was found the 12th along St. Louis County Road 16 just west of the Makinen Fire Hall. Another was discovered on the 8th in Ely, St. Louis Couty, along the Trezona Trail on the east side of Miner's Lake. And a Hawk Owl was found on the 10th just south of Baudette in Lake of the Woods County near the north boundary of the Carp Swamp WMA.

A SNOWY OWL was at the Stone Ridge Shopping Mall along Central Entrance in Duluth on the 7th. Another was still in Grand Marais, Cook County, on the 8th in the municipal campground. And a Snowy was found on the 9th in the western part of Hastings, Dakota County, near the junction of 14th Street West and General Sieben Drive.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was reported on the 12th along the 9400 block of Congdon Boulevard northeast of Duluth. Another is being seen at the Ann Lake campground of Sherburne NWR in Sherburne County, in the trees to the west of the parking lot.
