This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, November 20th 2008.

In Meeker County, a BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was found on the 17th on Lake Ripley on the south side of Litchfield.

Though now apparently gone, a WHITE-EYED VIREO was at the Linnaeus Arboretum on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Nicollet County, on the 17th. It was in the cranberry bushes behind the Interpretive Center.

A SNOWY OWL was on the edge of Clifford Lake in Douglas County on the 14th, a mile and a half south of the town of Osakis. Another was seen on the 17th on Rocky Point in Lake of the Woods County. In Duluth, a SNOWY OWL was found on the 20th in the Port Terminal near the railroad tracks. Another was found on the 16th near the intersection of U.S. Highway 53 and St. Louis County Road 52 in Cotton. And a SNOWY OWL was near Melrude on the 13th along St. Louis County Road 59 about three miles east of U.S. Highway 53.

A HARLEQUIN DUCK was reported from the southwest corner of Mille Lacs Lake on the 20th, along Mille Lacs County Road 35.

Six species of gulls were seen at Black Dog Lake in Dakota County on the 20th, including GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL, LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, GLAUCOUS GULL, and THAYER'S GULL.

On November 19th, a BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was discovered in the pine grove along 224th Avenue NE just west of the Martin Lake picnic area in the northeast corner of Anoka County. This is about a mile north of Viking Boulevard.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was still at the Ann Lake campground in Sherburne NWR on the 19th.

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was in Walker in Cass County on the 19th. It's being seen near Cleveland and 3rd streets.
