This is the Minnesota Birding Report for September 16th, 2010.

In Stevens County, an immature SABINE'S GULL was seen on the 12th on the south side of Gorder Lake southwest of the town of Morris.

Four Common Moorhens have been present at Sherburne NWR in Sherburne County since at least the 10th. They're being seen at the Big Bluestem Pool along the Prairie Wildlife Auto Tour road. Check especially near the drainage channel.

An adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was in Lake County on the 13th, loafing on the dock at Agate Bay in Two Harbors.

Also on the 13th, two WHOOPING CRANES were in the far northwest corner of Goodhue County, feeding in a corn field on the west side of 2nd Avenue between 310th Street and Scotia Trail. These birds are from the introduced Wisconsin group.

Three BLACK SCOTERS were on Lake Superior at Grand Marais, Cook County on the 15th. Other recently reported migrants include HORNED LARK, LAPLAND LONGSPUR, MOURNING WARBLER, BLACKPOLL WARBLER, and PURPLE FINCH.
