This is the Minnesota statewide birding report for Thursday September 10th sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

An immature SABINE'S GULL was reported from Cormorant Lake In Becker County. Curtis McCamy found the there bird on September 6th.

Two adult light-morph PARASITIC JAEGERS were seen by Karl Bardon at the Superior entry to Lake Superior at the end of Minnesota Point, St. Louis County on September 7th. No additional sightings of either bird has been reported but jaegers can be expected on the lake at this time of year. A WHIMBREL was also seen here on the 5th.

A few shorebirds were recorded at Agassiz NWR in Marshall County on September 5th. These included DUNLIN, SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, SANDERLING, LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, LEAST SANDPIPER and BAIRD'S SANDPIPER.

On September 6th the following 17 species of shorebirds were reported from Minnesota Lake in Faribault County): BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, KILLDEER, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, SANDERLING, DOWITCHER species - probably Long-billed, WILSON'S PHALAROPE, RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, plus SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, PECTORAL SANDPIPER, SPOTTED SANDPIPER, STILT SANDPIPER, and BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER.

A CATTLE EGRET was seen September 8th in Hennepin County flying northward along the I-35W corridor just north of Roseville.

In Rochester, Olmsted County, a CAROLINA WREN was seen again at Leslie Kotkke's feeder on September 9th. Please call Leslie before visiting.

And a September 5th shore-based survey of Lake Winnibigoshish counted a total of 408 COMMON LOONS and 1386 BONAPARTE'S GULL. Surveys at this lake will continue on a weekly basis into November.
