Recently (12/1) relocated to Princeton, MN from Madison, WI. =20

Utilizing Eckert's guide kindly forwarded by Jim Williams, birded CR 18 =
off of 169 in northern Aitkin County on Saturday 12/7 (please pardon =
lateness of post, but didn't have email until yesterday). Enjoyed 10 =
Sharp-tailed Grouse and a single Great Gray Owl from 10:00 to 12:00, =
latter on a telephone pole near the intersection of 320 and 560 (Puetz =
Road). Common Redpolls were, for once, common as well - had never seen =
in southern WI in 10 years of birding. Did not see any other winter =
finches or specialties.

Sherburne NWR has been quiet, only a few Bald Eagles, Rough-legged Hawks =
and a flock of 45 Snow Buntings to report since 12/1. Are there other =
places there to bird in winter besides the two trails on CR 9, Cemetary =
Road and the Auto Tour/Wildlife Road?

Interestingly, have GG Owl & ST Grouse on my new MN list before House =
Sparrow, House Finch or Cardinal. None of these seem common in/near =
Princeton this winter.

Thanks to all who responded to my November post prior to relocation. =
May have some time on Saturday to get away again, anything happening in =
Duluth or other areas within a couple of hours? (Had been disconnected =
from MOU-NET until yesterday as well.)

Good birding!
