This afternoon (12th), I found at least 6 Glaucous Gulls among about =
2000 gulls immediately east of the causeway by the power plant at Black =
Dog.=20
2 - Adults
1 - 3rd W - (noticeably paler mantle than adjacent adult, and larger =
with a dark-tipped bill)
3 - 1st W - (one was much darker and "dirtier" looking than other 2)
Thus far this winter, I can account for at least 7 different GLGUs at =
Black Dog. The 2nd W individual was not seen today.
Also, there were several, perhaps 10 or more, Thayer's Gulls present. It =
was tough to count as the whole mass lifted off and resettled several =
times. They were mostly adults plus one 3rd W. I saw no 1st W Thayer's. =
