Took a walk at the Pet Trails, Murphy-Hanrehan, Scott County
yesterday afternoon.
We were looking more for dragonflies(saw 10 species),
butterflies(not a lot) and wild-
Flowers(nice variety), but we did have an encounter with one
of the Henslow's Sparrows
That we won't soon forget. The bird was on the east side of
the path between 31 and 32,
Which is in the area where I first heard one this spring.
As we approached the bird it
Became very agitated and flew from perch to perch giving us
some wonderful looks.
I can only assume that the bird was defending something(a nest?) that
was quite=20
close to the path. As we walked on, the bird did drop down into the
grass not far=20
east of the path.=20
