I forgot to mention all the Marbled Godwits in the Rothsay SWMA area, I =
got great looks at a bunch and had one walk right up to the truck and =
stared me down, I'm glad the ELs have that short focusing feature, I'm =
surprised that they walk around a lot more upright that I thought they =
would, they act like miniature cranes, I saw and heard them everywhere I =
drove in that area..

Did another weekend trip working on the county lists. A few highlights. =
Found two lifers, Wilson's Phalarope on the edge of the Rothsay SWMA, =
and Greater Prairie-Chicken in the same area, I found a second group of =
chickens in a different area too.
=20
I got to see a pair of Sandhill Cranes parents with their chick (proper =
name for little one???) walking around in a grassy field, it was in Todd =
Co. in Germania Township, basically 8 C/D on page 53 of the Minnesota =
DeLorme map, where CR 74 going west from CR 21 takes a couple of turns, =
just west of County Ditch Number Twentyfive.=20
=20
I found a lone Red-headed Woodpecker on the same road just before the =
first turn going west to south, it was on a power pole and would drop =
down to the ground and back up to the pole.
=20
The other good viewing was all the Western Grebes with little chicks on =
there backs floating around on Lake Osakis.
=20
In Clay Co. I got to see a Otter in the Buffalo by the bridge on CR 2 =
just west of Barnesville while stopped to check out a flycatcher and =
some Warblers in the willows by the river..
