Hi,

I received a call today from Dr. Steve Stromstad saying that, over the
weekend, he spotted a pure white cormorant swimming and diving at Big
Cormorant Lake in Becker County. He was able to approach the bird fairly
closely by boat and had the impression that it was a third smaller than
the double-cresteds he's used to. He found it near the narrows formed by
the peninsula jutting out from the southwestern corner of the lake and the
east shore. Dr. Stromstad's cabin phone number is 218-439-6588 if anyone
would like more information on this bird. I can also pass messages along
to him via his work number if anyone emails me
(robert.oconnor@ndsu.nodak.edu). And if I manage to check the sighting
out myself, I'll post what I've seen. Whether or not it's a
Double-crested Cormorant, it certainly sounds like a bird worth seeing.
