Today while birding around the harbor I found a gorgeous male canvasback
swimming among a large flock of wigeons, a pair of gadwalls, mallards,
black ducks, goldeneyes, a ring-necked duck, lesser scaups, a
bufflehead, and a hooded merganser. It was on the west end of the
harbor by the docks. It is also my second canvasback for Cook County
and a bird I know is pretty rare for the area. It sure was an
excitement for the day.
