This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Wednesday April 21st.

A WHITE-FACED IBIS has been seen in Orwell Township in Otter Tail 
County since the 19th. From Fergus Falls, go west on County Road 15 
for about four miles to the old school house on the right side of the 
road. Turn right onto 210th Street and drive for half a mile to the 
wetland on the south side of the road.

On the 21st, Bruce Baer found a LITTLE BLUE HERON at the Bass Ponds 
area of Hennepin County. He found it sitting in the trees at the west 
end of Hogback Pond.

Both an AMERICAN AVOCET and a SNOWY EGRET were at the small wetland 
just west of the entrance to Rice Lake State Park in Steele County on 
the 19th.

At the Lewiston sewage ponds in Winona County, eight species of 
shorebirds were reported on the 16th including HUDSONIAN GODWIT, 
BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, DUNLIN, and PECTORAL SANDPIPER.

A LONG-TAILED DUCK was at the 180th Street Marsh in Dakota County on 
the 20th. From U.S. Highway 52 south, turn east on 180th St, and 
follow it a few miles to the ponds. The bird was in the second pool 
to the east on the south side of the road.

EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES are once again being reported from the town 
of Lynd in Lyon County. Check two blocks south of the intersection of 
Lyon County Roads 30 and 5.

On April 20th a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was at the west end of Wood Lake 
Nature Center in Minneapolis.

SMITH'S LONGSPURS were reported from the Red Rock Prairie in 
Cottonwood County on the 17th. And CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPURS have 
returned to the Felton Prairie in Clay County. A loose flock of at 
least five individuals was reported there on the 15th.

The first RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD of the season was reported by 
John Thompson from Hutchinson in McLeod County on the 15th. Birders 
are also reporting TREE SWALLOW, NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW, 
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, EASTERN TOWHEE, SAVANNAH SPARROW, and VESPER 
SPARROW.
