Last Sunday, Dec 19th on the Two Harbors CBC Mike Steffes and I found a =
female/imm Harlequin Duck on the lake side of the breakwall at the =
lighthouse (Agate Bay).
Last Wednesday while guiding Dick Konz from Illinois for a 1/2 day we =
found the following birds:
-Great Gray owls (along Scenic 61)
-Bohemian Waxwings in Two Harbors across from the cafe Vanilla Bean.
-Evening Grosbeaks
-Hoary Redpoll at the corner of Elm and Maxwell St.
-Coopers Hawk along I-35 and 40th Ave West. The bird was perched in the =
open near the RR overpass. It was a classic adult bird. Unusual to have =
wintering Cooper's in Duluth or in NE Minnesota.
Today Dec 23 guiding out Tracy McCarthy from AZ we found the following =
birds:
-Spruce Grouse on Hwy 1 at Mile Marker 303 (3) in Lake County.
-White-wing Crossbill (1) along the Spruce Rd. in Lake Co.
-Pine Grosbeaks
-Common Redpolls
-Bohemian Waxwings about a block north of the Vanilla Bean in the upper =
neighborhood. (30)
-Great Gray Owls (variety of locations)
-Hawk Owl (At the intersection of the RR tracks and Scenic 61 south of =
Two Harbors) Larsmont area?
-Northern Shrike
-Ruffed Grouse
-Iceland Gull (Kumliens at WI landfill)
-Thayer's Gull (adult WI landfill)
-Glaucous Gulls (WI landfill)
Saw 4 Moose along Lake Co. Rd. 2.
