The Great Gray Owl was present this morning at 9:45am in the previously
described location (Carver county road 10 and Bavaria road). It was hunting
in the marsh/grassy area in the northwest part of this intersection.
Interesting was its hunting behavior. The owl would soar, hover and glide
over the grasses much like a short-eared owl. Then it would drop down to the
ground, stay hidden for several minutes, then come back up and repeat the
process.
If you go to look for the bird and don't see it, wait a bit because it may
be in the grass.
Regards..
