Walking this morning at Wood Lake Nature Center in Richfield, Hennepin Co following a storm from the night before, and seeing what blew in was a great way to enjoy the new migrants. The woods were filled with songs, and the melodious whistles of the many Fox Sparrows permeated the brisk air. The Golden-crowned Kinglets, and Ruby-crowned Kinglets were vocal, displaying raised crests.

The splotches of open water were filled with the newly arrived Green-winged and Blue-winged Teal, Coots, Gadwall, Hooded Mergansers, Bufflehead, Ring-necked, Wooduck, and a Common Goldeneye pair. The Coopers Hawk was moving around to many vantage points calling loudly, and I have not seen a mate yet. A Northern Flicker's prolonged loud call, and 2 pair of Eastern Bluebirds hanging close to the nesting boxes.
