Spent the day birding in Lake and St. Louis Counties with Conny Brunell,
Leslie Marcus and Susan Schumacher. We relocated the Lesser Black-backed Gull and
managed to find one of the Northern Hawk Owls reported along CR 7 in St.
Louis County.
@ Rough-legged Hawk - numerous birds observed in both Lake & St. Louis
Counties
@ Lesser Black-backed Gull - Lake County - 9:00am - Mouth of French River
@ Northern Hawk Owl - St. Louis County - 4:00pm - East side of CR 7, 1/10th
of a mile South of CR 52.
@ Gray Jay - numerous sightings in both Lake and St. Louis Counties
@ Snow Bunting - small flocks observed throughout Lake & St. Louis Counties
@ Red Crossbills - Lake County - 9:30am - a flock of 8 birds was briefly
observed across the street from Emily's Rest. along scenic highway 61.
@ Common Redpolls - many flocks observed in flight migrating south along Lake
Superior.
