A rufous hummingbird was banded on November 14, 2004, in Berrien Co. Michigan.  This is not as far north as our Minnesota stray, but out of range.

As for the idea of relocating a bird to warmer climates, it is a mute point.  This was attempted in the past, which had failed.  In order to move/capture a migratory bird you need a migratory bird permit from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and they are no longer issuing permits for this purpose.
