The MOU trip was held on October 16-17. My co-leaders were Tom Auer and =
Kim Risen. Nine birder from Minnesota and 2 birders from Illinois =
enjoyed a weekend they will remember for a long time.

The total species for the weekend was 94 species. Today we saw 77 =
species.  The weather on Saturday was very cold with strong winds from =
the NW with periods of rain and sleet. The owl session Saturday night =
was cancelled due to the strong winds. Sunday's weather was much better =
with winds from the NW and sunny.

Here's the highlights:

Pacific Loon: Park Pt.  Straight out from the bath house on Lake =
Superior 10/17

Surf Scoter: Two at Burlington Bay, Two Harbors, One in Grand Marais and =
5 were seen along 34th street along Park Pt.
White-winged Scoter: Two at Hovland, Cook Co.
Black Scoter: Four at 34th Street Park Point.

Thayer's Gull: 10/16 immature at Agate Bay, Two Harbors and also a imm. =
at Grand Marais.

** Common Ground Dove 10/17 1/2 mile north of mile marker 48.

Northern Hawk Owl (thank you Mark Junghans!) Stoney Pt. 1/2 mile north =
of the stone wall over look along Stoney Pt. Dr.

Short-eared Owl (Thank you kim Eckert) at 40th Avenue W.

Northern Saw-whet Owl (thank you Cindy Butler/Kim Risen) 10/16 at Knife =
River.

Black-backed woodpecker Three birds seen today. One was seen migrating =
by Hovland, Cook Co and two were seen at mile marker 48 along 61 flying =
over head.

22 Eastern Bluebirds in Cook Co.

Bohemian Waxwing (3) 10/17 migrating by at Paradise beach.=20

5 species of Warblers (Tenn, Orange-crowned, Cape May, Palm and =
Yellow-rumped)

White-winged Crossbills at Devil Track River 10/17

Common Redpoll one bird calling close to us at Hovland, Cook Co.

Evening Grosbeaks migrating by in Cook Co.

I want to say thanks to following people who helped made this trip a =
success! Kim Risen and Tom Auer for doing a excellent job in finding =
birds, pointingthem out and answering questions from the participants. =
Thank you guys! I also want to give big thanks to Peder Svingen, Tony =
Hertzel, Jim Lind and Kim Eckert for calling me and give me and giving =
me updates on birds they found. Thank you men! I also want to thank Phil =
Chu and Ron Erpleding for finding the Common Ground Dove and getting the =
word out quickly! Also thank you Denny Martin for calling me as well and =
making sure I knew about the dove as well!=20

It was a excellent weekend! I have room for the Nov. 6-7 MOU trip coming =
