Field Trip Report

5 - participants
25 - species observed

Spent the afternoon leading a trip around Black Dog Lake and also made a
quick run over to the airport in search of the previously reported Snowy Owl.
We were fortunate enough to relocate many of the species that have been
hanging around. Here are some of the groups sightings.

@ Pied-billed Grebe - Observed around 4:00pm from the Power plant road
between the East and West portions of Black Dog Lake. The bird was observed on
the East side.
@ Eared Grebe - Observed from the Power plant road. But the Eared Grebe,
was observed on the West of the road.
@ American White Pelican - 3 birds were seen.
@ Green-winged Teal
@ Rough-legged Hawk - Observed in flight near Riverside Park.
@ Glaucous Gull - One adult bird was observed resting on the lake to the
East of the Power Plant Road.
@ Black-legged Kittiwake - The 1st Winter Black-legged Kittiwake was
observed on the lake near the West end spillway at 2:00pm and over the river at that
time as well. It was seen around 3:00pm from the observation platform about
mid way on the North side of West Black Dog Lake.
@ Snowy Owl - Seen from Cargo Road. The bird was sitting next to the fence
on the West side of the road across from the UPS offices. This is between
the two tunnels.
