Hi everyone,
I had an hour to kill this morning so I checked the spot where 2 =
Trumpeter Swans had been seen on our CBC last Saturday. They were still =
present along with our annual wintertime Mute Swan. No one knows the =
story on the Mute Swan, but it shows up here every winter and hangs =
around behind one of the bait shops here on the shore of the Cannon =
River. In 2004, a pair of them hung around into spring and attempted =
nesting, but they disappeared after a heavy rain. Well, now it has a =
couple of friends. Nothing else of interest for waterfowl, but there =
were 2 Belted Kingfishers present. Also of interest were 49 Mourning =
Doves perched in a tree north of Faribault. A couple of times, I've =
tried relocating the Red-shouldered Hawk that was also seen on the CBC, =
but have had no luck.

Good birding,

Dave Bartkey
