Found a lifer Townsend's Solitaire squawking at eight Cedar Waxwings in =
the dead tops of a Cottonwood tree in Sherburne. I don't know if this =
is Mr. Shirmacher's location, but the event happened east of CR5 and CR4 =
intersection (s of the hamlet of Orrock). A mile east on N. Sand Dunes =
Rd. the tar ends, a sign there says "N.Sand Dunes Forest."
A snowmobile trail comes across there, my hike to the south a few =
hundred yards to a bluestem field planting. Scrub deciduous on the =
right, mixed red and white pine plantings on the left. Later, a hike =
through the Ann Lake campground yielded many usual species, of note, 19 =
Goldfinches, 3 Siskins feeding on Amur maple seeds down by the Unca SNA =
sign--fun to watch how they pluck them away. A Pileated cruised through =
at the same time. mjb
