My parents and I took a two-day trip (12/29 and 12/30) to northern Minnesota
and checked out the lower North Shore, Isabella, the Sax-Zim Bog, and Aitkin
County. We had some good finds...

12/29
GLAUCOUS GULL - 1 at Canal Park, Duluth
VARIED THRUSH - 1 at the intersection of 4th and 1st in Two Harbors

12/30
GREAT GRAY OWL - 1 in the Sax-Zim Bog along Owl Avenue, about two or three
blocks south of its intersection with Arkola Road
EVENING GROSBEAK - 1 at the eastern end of Stone Lake Road in the Sax-Zim Bog
SNOWY OWL - 1 on a telephone pole in Aitkin County on Township Road 380, 1.4
miles west of 5

Also saw the other familiar northern birds:

PINE GROSBEAK
PINE SISKIN
RUFFED GROUSE
GRAY JAY
COMMON REDPOLL

Good birding everyone (and happy New Year!)

Keith Pulles, Wright County
